This series celebrates the kookaburra, a tree kingfisher native to Australia that has become an iconic part of the country’s wildlife. The reverse design of the series changes each year, and the 2014 coins feature a kookaburra perched on a branch, surrounded by gum leaves. The inscription “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA”, “2014 10 oz 999 SILVER”, and the Perth Mint ‘P’ mark can also be found, alongside the initials ‘NM’ for designer Natasha Muhl.

The obverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (head of state of the British Commonwealth) by Ian Rank-Broadley whose initials ‘IRB’ can be seen below the Queen’s neck. The coin’s face value of 10 DOLLARS is also included, alongside the inscription “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA”.
