The 2013 Kookaburra 10 oz silver coin is produced by Perth Mint and issued by Australia. This series celebrates the kookaburra, a tree kingfisher native to Australia that has become an iconic part of the country’s wildlife. With changing annual designs, and struck to Perth Mint’s high quality standards, they are popular with collectors.

Each 2013 Australian Kookaburra 10 oz silver coin is 75.5 mm in diameter, and contains ten troy ounces (311 grams) of 999 fine silver. They are legal tender in Australia, with a face value of 10 AUD. Perth Mint produced 24,481 of the 2013 10 oz Kookaburra coins.

The reverse design of the series changes each year, and the 2013 coins feature two young kookaburras perched on a branch, surrounded by waratah plants. The inscription “AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA”, “2013 10 oz 999 SILVER”, and the Perth Mint ‘P’ mark can also be found, alongside the initials ‘NM’ for designer Natasha Muhl.

The obverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (head of state of the British Commonwealth) by Ian Rank-Broadley whose initials ‘IRB’ can be seen below the Queen’s neck. The coin’s face value of 10 DOLLARS is also included, alongside the inscription “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA”.
