This 2020 1/4 oz Lunar gold bullion coin from Australia’s Perth Mint is fabricated in 0.9999 fine gold and celebrates the Chinese Year of the Mouse.

The mouse is the first of the twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar, and those born in the Year of the Mouse are said to be intelligent, optimistic, energetic and resourceful.

The reverse of the 1/4 oz gold coin features detailed imagery of a mouse balancing on stalks of wheat, with the Chinese character for mouse displayed in a contemporary style along with the inscription MOUSE 2020.

The obverse of the coin features a head portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the words “AUSTRALIA”, and the coin’s weight and gold purity “1/4 oz 9999 Au”. The 1/4 oz gold Mouse has a face value of AUD 25.

Historically the Perth Mint was a branch mint of the Royal Mint of London but is now fully owned by the Government of Western Australia.
