The 0.5 troy ounce gold bullion coin from the Perth Mint celebrates the 2020 'Year of the Mouse' in the Chinese Lunar calendar and is part of the Mint's Australian Lunar Series III coin releases. 

Those born in the Year of the Mouse are said to be intelligent, optimistic, quick-witted and resourceful.

Each 0.5 oz gold bullion Lunar coin is struck from 99.99% pure gold and has a highly detailed and high-lustre finish.

The reverse of the 0.5 oz gold coin features a vivid portrayal of a mouse foraging among stalks of wheat with the Chinese character for mouse displayed in a contemporary style along with the year 2020.

The obverse of the coin features an Ian Rank-Broadley designed portrait of Australia’s monarch Queen Elizabeth II, with the words “AUSTRALIA”, and the coin’s weight and gold purity “1/2 oz 9999 Au”. 

This 2020 0.5 oz gold Lunar coin is legal tender in Australia with a face value of AUD 50.

The government owned Perth Mint, located in Western Australia, is both a mint and a refinery, and the Mint's refinery is one of the largest precious metals refineries outside of Switzerland.
