The 2009 Libertad silver proof 5 oz coin is issued by Mexico and produced by the Mexican Mint (La Casa de Moneda de México). The Mexican Mint is the oldest mint in the Americas, and the Libertad is a popular series with collectors due to the fairly low numbers produced each year.

Each of these 2009 Mexican Libertad 5 oz silver coins is struck to proof standard, with a diameter of 65 mm, and was limited to a mintage of just 5,000 coins. Although they are considered legal tender in Mexico, the Libertads do not have a face value on them.
