The reverse depicts a stylised Chinese dragon interacting with a Pearl of Wisdom. The Chinese character for 'dragon' and the inscription 'Year of the Dragon' also appear in the design with the Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark. This special edition also features a small privy mark of a Bavarian lion, engraved within the pearl. The privy mark was commissioned by BayernLB (Bayerische Landesbank), a German state bank based in Bavaria, giving the coin its 'Bavarian Lion' name.
