The obverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (head of state of the British Commonwealth) by Ian Rank-Broadley whose initials ‘IRB’ can be seen below the Queen’s neck. The coin’s face value of 1 DOLLAR is also included, alongside '2009' and the inscription “ELIZABETH II” and “AUSTRALIA”.
