Each 2010 Britannia 1 oz silver coin has a diameter of 40 mm. The Britannia series at this time was produced to a fineness of 958 (95.8% pure silver), which was known as ‘Britannia Silver’, but the coin still contains a full troy ounce (31.1 grams) of silver, with the coin having a total weight of 32.45 grams. They are legal tender in the UK with a face value of £2, and 126,367 coins were minted in 2010.
The reverse of the 2010 Britannia 1oz silver coin shows a unique image of the Lady Britannia facing right, with a lion helmet pulled back from her face This design was by Suzie Zamit, and leaves can be seen either side the year of issue, along with the words “BRITANNIA”, and “ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER”.
The obverse of the coin displays the fourth effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley (IRB). The coin’s face value of “2 POUNDS” is also featured.
