The 2003 1 oz silver Britannia coin is issued by the United Kingdom and produced by The Royal Mint in Wales.

Each 2003 Britannia 1 oz silver coin has a diameter of 40 mm. The Britannia series at this time was produced to a fineness of 958 (95.8% pure silver), which was known as ‘Britannia Silver’, but the coin still contains a full troy ounce (31.1 grams) of silver, with the coin having a total weight of 32.45 grams. They are legal tender in the UK with a face value of £2, and 73,271 coins were minted in 2003.

The reverse of the 2003 Britannia 1oz silver coin shows a special one-off annual design of the Lady Britannia, facing left. She wears a Corinthian helmet, pushed back on her head. The portrait is overlaid by stylised waves, representing her dominion over the seas. This design was by Philip Nathan, marked by the initials “PN” at the bottom of the design, along with the words “BRITANNIA”, the year of issue, and “ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER”.

The obverse of the coin displays the fourth effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley (IRB). The coin’s face value of “2 POUNDS” is also featured.
