This 2019 platinum Maple Leaf coin is a 1 ounce 99.95% pure platinum bullion coin issued by the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM).

The Royal Canadian Mint is Canada’s national mint and was founded in 1908, originally as the Ottawa branch mint of the British Royal Mint.

The reverse face of the 1 ounce RCM platinum bullion coin features Canada’s national symbol, the distinctive Maple Leaf design. This design is also depicted on the Royal Canadian Mint’s gold bullion and silver bullion Maple Leaf coins.

The obverse of the 1 ounce platinum Maple Leaf features a head portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, Canada’s official monarch.

The platinum Maple Leaf is the official platinum bullion coin of Canada and has non-circulating legal tender status with a face value of 50 Canadian dollars.

The RCM platinum Maple Leaf coin was first issued in 1988 and in every year until 2002. After a hiatus, mintage of the coin began again in 2009 and has continued annually since then.
