The 2015 Kangaroo 1/4 oz gold coin is issued by Australia, and produced by Perth Mint. The series celebrates Australia’s most iconic animal, and was originally called the gold Nugget. Australia is famous for its gold production, and discoveries of nuggets, but the series changed to feature the kangaroo in 1990 and has continued to do so since.

All of the 2015 Australian Kangaroo 1/4 oz gold coins contain a quarter of a troy ounce (7.77 grams) of 9999 fine gold, the highest purity used in commercial bullion coins. They are 22.1 mm in diameter, and are legal tender in Australia with a face value of 25 AUD. 25,800 of the 2015 gold Kangaroo 1/4 oz coins were minted.

The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II (head of state of the British Commonwealth) by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials ‘IRB’ can be found below the Queen’s neck. The words ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and the coin’s face value of 25 DOLLARS are also shown.
