This is the smallest gold bullion coin in the 2026 Lunar series issued by Australia's Perth Mint. It celebrates the 2026 'Year of the Horse' in the Chinese Lunar calendar and is the seventh year in the Mint's Australian Lunar Series III coin releases.
Each 1/20 oz Lunar gold bullion coin has a gold purity or fineness of 0.9999, and so is essentially pure gold.
People born in the Year of the Horse are energetic, independent, and charismatic, with a natural zest for life and a love for freedom.
The reverse of the 1/20 oz gold coin features a majestic Horse standing on it's hind legs, set in it's natural habitat, with the Chinese character for Horse displayed in a contemporary style along with the year 2026.
The obverse of the coin features an Ian Rank-Broadley designed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the words “AUSTRALIA”, and the coin’s weight and gold purity “1/20 oz 9999 Au”.
This 2026 Lunar gold coin is legal tender in Australia with a face value of AUD 5.
