Our various year American Buffalo 1 oz gold coins are bullion products issued by the United States of America, and produced at the West Point Mint. The Buffalo series was America’s first bullion coin produced in 24-karat gold. Customers will receive any year of coin from our available stock, and cannot specify the year of coin they will receive.

Each of the 1 oz gold Buffalo coins contain 1 troy ounce (31.1 grams) of 999.9 fine gold, and have a diameter of 32.7 mm. They are legal tender in the US with a face value of 50 US dollars.

The obverse recreates the famous 'Indian Head' portrait used on older American coins. The word "LIBERTY" is featured, alongside the year of issue, and the letter "F," marking the work of the designer James Earle Fraser.

Remaining the same each year, the reverse of the coin features a buffalo (or bison) facing left. The reverse also includes several inscriptions: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM” meaning ‘Out of Many, One’, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, the coin’s face value of $50, and “1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD”.
