Product Information:

This unique copper coin series "Supersaurs" is newly released by the Austrian Mint and combines 2 very popular themes together : Dinosaur imagery on coins and glow in the dark special effect.

The set consists of 3 coins depicting three majestic prehistoric giants, the Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus, the Mosasaurus hoffmanni and the Arambourgiania.

Spinosaurus Aegyptiacus: At 18 m in length and weighing a whopping 9 tons, the Spinosaurus Aegyptus was the largest carnivore to have ever walked the Earth, even outranking that most iconic of prehistoric predators, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. It lived some 100 million years ago in what is now known as North Africa, where Spinosaurus remains were discovered for the first time in Egypt in 1912.

Mosasaurus hoffmanni: At 17 m in length the Mosasaurus Hoffmanni was the largest marine dinosaur. It lived about 82 to 66 million years ago during the Campanian and Maastrichtian stages of the Late Cretaceous and the earliest fossils known to science were found as skulls in a chalk quarry near the Dutch city of Maastricht in the late 1700s.

Arambourgiania: The largest flying animal to have ever dominated the skies. Arambourgianias were enormous creatures and were estimated to have a 3 m long neck, a 13 m wingspan, and a 5 m height. It went extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period some 66 million years ago.

The reverse of each coin features the giants in a colourful depiction and this depiction glows in the dark in dark environments.

Each coin contains 18 grams of copper and has a legal tender value of EUR 3.

Each coin is limited to a maximum mintage of 65,000.
