The Perth Mint opened on June 20, 1899 at the height of the Western Australian gold rush. In celebration of The Perth Mint's 125th anniversary, only 150,000 1 oz silver coins showcasing the kangaroo, kookaburra and koala were struck.

The reverse of the coin portrays the koala, kangaroo and kookaburra artfully arranged in a golden wattle, which is Australia's national floral emblem. On a scroll, the years 1899 and 2024 are struck, signifying the 125 years that The Perth Mint has been in operation. The coin's weight and fineness along with the 2024 and the "P125" privy mark complete this design.

Each coin is struck in 1 troy ounce of 99.99% pure silver.

The coin is legal tender at AUD$1.

The 125th Anniversary silver coin has a limited maximum mintage of 150,000.
